Dexter
Our precious boy Dexter died on 5/9/2013 at 2.15a.m. Frustratingly, the vet was on an emergency call and could not get here on time and he died an awful distressing death before she arrived - 'Bloat'. He did not deserve to die that way, he was so good and accepting with everyone, cats, children and other dogs, he let them invade his personal space and even take his treats off him but Dexter did not mind in the least, he was the perfect gentle 14 and half stone giant. Living quite isolated in the country his bark was a reassuring security blanket even though he would welcome anyone with an unstoppable wagging tail.
We adopted Dexter from Daneline in 2006 along with his best mate Milo, collecting them from Bristol in a saloon car for the long drive back to Cornwall. Milo sadly died in 2010 (what a character he was) and everyone especially Dexter was very upset for quite a long time. We loved them both so much and will never ever be able to get over our loss. Life is so empty without Dexter, he has been Wendy's constant faithful companion since she was diagnosed with cancer in 2011, never once leaving her side, not even for a pork pie! Fortunately Wendy is getting better but is now faced having to cope without her boy.
We have buried Dexter in our woods close to our other Danes. We take comfort in hoping that he is reunited with his old pal Milo. Life will never be the same, he was so very special. Thank you Dexter for bringing us so much happiness and give Milo a big hug (lick) from us. xx
Thank you Daneline for giving us the opportunity to lavish our love and attention on Dexter and Milo who, although had sad beginnings, ended up having a wonderful lives with us and brought us so much joy.xx
